This is what Democracy looks like! Thank you to all of my fellow SCC members who supported me, voted for me and continue to believe in me. Your support means the absolute world to me! Thank to my friends and family for all of the your words of motivation, endless love, and support!

My SonShine is the best! I taught him to give from an early age. At 11 we were at RoadRunner Food Bank volunteering to bag pasta and he was so tired. I told him he should go sit down for a bit, but he replied “No, the people need this mom”.

At 14, I witnessed Devin and his friends refuse to eat their food at the restaurant we were at because there was a houseless gentleman outside. Once we got him food, they gave him all the money they had, talked to him and they all gave him hugs…only then did they eat their own food which they had left at the table inside the restaurant.

At 17 we were in downtown ABQ passing out food and toiletry items and a gentlemen told Devin he was two weeks clean. Devin put down the stuff he was holding and gave that gentlemen the longest hug and told him he was proud of him.

Now add this to the strong boundaries that he has. We speak of what we can do to make a difference in the world often and he executes daily.

He doesn’t harbor any toxic masculinity. He firmly knows who he is with no need to shout it from the rooftop, he moves dilibertly and quietly.

When I describe Devin, I say, I’m a good human, but he is even a better human than me. I have no worries when it is my time to transition. None whatsoever!

We are not new to this. This is who we have been and this is who we are. Decide what legacy you choose to leave behind. 💜

I’m looking forward to spending this Saturday with you.

As you look at your options, I am only asking you to remember that this work takes action and not just words. It takes those who are willing to step out as my Emerge sibling and friend Rep Stansbury did and say “This is Not Normal”.

There is plenty of work to be done and I’m ready to do just that, work.

As I have said before, being your next Secretary for the Democratic Party of New Mexico is only a continuation of my service since the age of 19 to our country and local communities.

It would be my honor to help be a beacon of hope for other states to see and follow our lead. Let me take my 25 years of human resource experience to lead with inspiration, motivation, tried and true leadership through integrity, commitment, and compassion.
