LEG PAIN
Gluteal pain that radiates to the leg is often caused by nerve compression or irritation, most commonly involving the sciatic nerve. Poor sitting posture—such as prolonged sitting with slouched hips, crossing legs, or sitting on hard surfaces—can place pressure on the gluteal muscles and surrounding nerves. This pressure, especially on the piriformis muscle, may irritate or compress the sciatic nerve, leading to a condition called piriformis syndrome. As a result, the pain may start in the buttock and radiate down the leg, mimicking sciatica. Over time, sustained poor posture can exacerbate nerve inflammation, muscle imbalance, and lower back alignment issues, further contributing to the radiating discomfort.
