Senior Company dancer - and our only 2026 grad - Mia Gimigliano is - simply put - is a force of nature. Mia brings musicality, technical prowess, and embodiment - to levels unknown. She is the undeniable example of that moment when the music and the dancer become one - all lines blur - you feel the power and emotion in a place you didn’t even know existed -and it makes your soul smile. Mia brings us to places - uncovered from deep beneath the surface - and makes us feel things so beautiful- so powerful - things we forgot - emotions we have shuttered - fire we have snuffed out. She brings it all to awareness - and moves us. . Mia embodies the magic we suppress - and reminds us all to let that fire burn brightly, unapologetically, and brighter than the sun. Personally, I am so far from ready to accept that this is Mia’s last season as a leader and inspiration to every dancer at DFR - but as I reflect back on her journey from party girl to Clara to Sugarplum - I am humbled by her presence - inspired by her undeniable fire - and grateful for the immense and lasting impact she has made on every member of the DFR Family - and on me. We are not yet ready to say “farewell” - we have so much yet to create together - but from the bottom of my exploding heart - and from every person who has experienced you - Mia - we love you - we celebrate you - and we will forever be indebted to you for showing us what it means to be dancer.
To be part of your story has been a gift we simply cannot put words to. Our greatest wish for you is that you never, ever dim your light, or mask your power - and that you continue to share the most radiant parts of you with all who would bask in your light.
