What is RAP? The acronym refers to reclaimed asphalt pavement. RAP is used in construction and maintenance paving projects that include surfacing or resurfacing road shoulders, widening lanes, and building road and parking lot bases.

Paving asphalt is technically called asphalt concrete. This is because concrete refers to any material that is made of aggregate bonded with a binder. What we normally call concrete is a cement concrete specifically made with Portland cement as binder, instead of asphalt.
