XVelo Training
The Isolated Upper Half Drill is a great way to clean up how an athlete organizes their body to the baseball.
By taking the lower half out of it and keeping both feet planted, you’re forced to see how the upper half moves to get the barrel to the pitch. You can use this off the tee, front toss, or the machine.
The goal isn’t to just make contact. Focus on maintaining good posture as you hinge to the pitch, staying balanced through the swing, and driving the ball through the middle of the field rather than cutting across it to the pull side.
If you’re losing your balance or feeling your weight shift all over the place, that’s valuable feedback. Balance and stability matter. How you move your body ultimately affects your bat path, and this drill gives athletes a simple way to feel and improve it.
Shep Morrison getting after it today! 💪🔥
The work being put in this summer is exciting to watch. Looking forward to seeing the continued growth and development.
Karter Sutton driving the ball through the middle of the field and doing an excellent job this round. Staying balanced, keeping his bat behind him, and firing his hips directly toward center field. The result: a smooth, powerful swing and hard contact up the middle.

Rocco Fischi’s hitting progression for the day:
⚾ Movement Prep
• Dynamic Warmup
• Med Ball Tosses
• Farm Board Tosses
⚾ Tee Work
• Farm Board (BF)
• Middle
• Away/Inside
⚾ Front Toss
• Farm Board (BF)
• Middle
• Away
⚾ Machine Work
• Regular (Smash Balls)
• Breaking Ball
A simple progression that moves from movement and feel work into game-speed ex*****on. Each phase builds on the previous one, allowing us to reinforce movement patterns before challenging them against higher-speed environments.
James Wesley Hitting Session ⚾️
Today’s work started with movement prep, dynamic warm-up, and med ball tosses to get the body moving and ready.
From there, we moved into T-work:
• Hook ‘Ems
• Middle & Away Tee
Front Toss Progression:
• Hook ‘Ems
• Offset Open
• Middle
Machine Work:
• Offset Open
• Regular Machine
We finished with a Round of 6, focusing on swing decisions, approach, and competing in the box.
⚾️ Workout Breakdown ⚾️
Today’s session was all about building a more efficient and powerful swing through proper movement patterns and swing decisions.
💥 Med Ball Tosses
We started with med ball throws and med ball tosses on the farm board, focusing on loading into the back side and rotating through the middle of the body. The goal was to create force through rotation—not by pushing forward—helping athletes stay centered and generate power the right way.
Tee Work
Our kneeling top-hand drill focused on improving bat path and creating a strong contact position. We emphasized keeping the top hand palm-up through contact while maintaining extension through the baseball. From there, we moved back to the farm board, continuing to work on staying on the back side, rotating through the core, and avoiding forward drift.
🔥 Front Toss
Front toss on the farm board challenged hitters to transfer those same movement patterns into a more game-like setting. We worked through pitches middle and away while maintaining balance, posture, and quality rotation.
⚙️ Machine Work
The heel-up drill helped players feel their weight gather into the backside and stay there longer. This allowed them to rotate behind the front leg instead of drifting forward, creating a more powerful and controlled swing. We then transitioned into regular machine work to apply those feels at game speed.
🎯 Round of 6
To finish, we competed with a Round of 6. Hitters get six pitches—no matter what. Take them all, swing at them all, or work specific counts. The focus is on approach, swing decisions, discipline, and executing a plan. Learning to control the strike zone is just as important as developing the swing itself.
Today we introduced our HitTrax technology and showed how we’re using data to take player development to the next level. Every lesson is measured and tracked using key batted-ball metrics, including exit velocity, launch angle, distance, and the outcome of each play.
This technology gives our athletes instant feedback, helps us measure progress, and allows players to better understand how their swing translates to game performance. Data-driven training, real-time results, and measurable improvement—just another way we’re helping players reach their full potential. ⚾📊💪

Most players need development, not just more games.
Playing every weekend and being on the field constantly doesn’t always mean a player is truly improving. Games expose strengths and weaknesses, but the real growth happens through intentional work between those games.
At Xvelo, we focus on helping players understand their swing, improve movement patterns, build confidence, and train in environments that actually transfer into competition. Every rep has purpose. Every adjustment has feedback behind it.
The goal isn’t just to get swings in.
It’s to help players continue developing instead of repeating the same habits over and over.
We’re not replacing travel baseball.
We’re helping players get more out of it.
Working off the machine against a right-handed slider. We’ve got the machine set slightly off-center to better replicate the true arm slot and release point of a right-handed pitcher.
If the machine is set directly down the middle and the ball is simply breaking away, it doesn’t create the same visual angle hitters see in a game. By moving the machine off-center, we can match the approach angle and give hitters a more realistic look at how the pitch actually enters the zone.
The goal is game-like reps that transfer directly to competition. Train with intent.
