Groundwork RVA

The Parent Cafe is a gathering of parents and caregivers in the Hillside Court area where we discuss personal development alongside their child’s development. We do this through interactive games that allow for discussion and learning of different topics such as circles of support, foundations of family, and healthy coping mechanisms! At Hillside Mini Farm we hosted a Parent Cafe Cookout this past May, where we had members of the community interact with Parent Cafe styled questions like: “Who’s in your family?” There was food, music, and fun! We are excited for the next event!

Green Team had an amazing time with learning how to bird and identify different bird calls. In our birding session we were able to see and hear over 20 different species of birds! Brown-headed cowbirds, Canada geese , Osprey, and Red-bellied Woodpeckers were some of the birds we had the wonderful chance to experience through our binoculars!

Some shots from our Spring Planting Day at the end of last month at Hillside Farm! We are so grateful for everyone who came out: Hillside neighbors, Green Teamers, volunteers , and staff!

Everything got weeded, and the plants are in the ground, ready to grow food for our community!
