"Her daughter's got some lovely legs, as I recall," he mentioned to Halona. "She's the one with the yellow corset, right?"
"Remind me again why I chose you to be a priest?" The goddess asked.
"My blatant disregard for authority, my ability to amuse you no matter how dire the situation--oh, and I stole thirty gold from one of your temples, then felt guilty about it and replaced it with twice that much before the priest even noticed it was missing."
"That's right, it was the last part. You bought my forgiveness."
"Something like that."
"Except you stole the other thirty gold from one of my sister's temples."
"And I was so grateful you got to me before she did, that I accepted when you offered me a place as a chosen priest." Larian paused to make certain he had everything. "I paid her priests back eventually," he pointed out.
"Only because you wanted to stay in my good graces."
"Actually, I think it was more I was afraid of your father intervening."
"He does have that way about him," Halona agreed.
