During a recent trip to Ecuador, Computers without Borders discovered a hidden gem in Canoa. We found that the school the James Dean Foundation (see below) supports URGENTLY needs computers! Due to the cost of shipping desktop PCs, we are rounding up as many laptops as we can and sending them to Ecuador with visitors. Anyone visiting Ecuador can bring along up to two laptops with no import taxes. If you -- or your business- have any used computers to donate, please let us know. Computers without Borders in Ecuador! In February, once again with the help of our friend Kary Vannice, our Quick Start program opened a portal into Ecuador! We donated a computer system to an indigenous university near Riobamba in central Ecuador. The institute is dedicated to preserving the indigenous way of life with a goal of balancing traditional practices with modern technology and science. We are looking forward to establishing a partnership with COMPAS- an international program working in ten countries-- which is affiliated with the institute and many others.
