A little late to the party but better late than never!

2023 was a hard year that broke me open, made me braver and reaffirmed that I am MEANT to be on this path. I am SO proud of each of the women I got to walk alongside this past year.

It was also the year that I got to experience the true MAGIC of first-hand. They have always been my favorite to attend as a doula but getting to experience it myself changed me to my core. The Midwifery model is unparalleled. For low-risk pregnancies I truly believe that it is the best place to be.

I am blessed to have taken Dean to all of my Childbirth Classes for the first 6 months of his life. Wearing him on my back or bouncing him with my foot- it felt normal and right to have my breastfed baby with me while I "work".

I started my path to Midwifery and my apprenticeship in the late part of 2023 as well. Finding the balance of Mom / Wife / Student / Business Owner etc etc has been a new challenge but one that I know is fluid and temporary. Ask any new midwife about their hardest part and most will say student life.

I hope that 2024 will bring me a bit more balance in the juggling act. I hope to attract more clients birthing with midwives (for obvious education reasons but also bc I'm growing tired of the second-hand trauma often experienced from obstetricians. *Not all, of course. But many).

I also hope to grow my placenta encapsulations which would help fund my studies and give me more time with family.

I'm ready to tackle this new year and am excited to see what 2024 has in store ✨️

💡How well do you truly know your provider?
🤝How much do you trust them and trust the skills that they have?
🏪Do they work in a busy office with multiple providers sharing call or do you know for sure that the one you've hired and are getting to know during pregnancy is the one who will catch your baby?
🫂Do your values and views on birth align?
🤱🏽How much support will you be provided postpartum?

🤰🏼Homebirth isn't for everyone, and as a doula I respect and support my clients decisions to choose a birth center or hospital birth instead. HOWEVER; I do ask them the above questions because I don't want them left feeling disappointed in the care they received during birth and more importantly, not feeling safe. I have seen way too many births go awry because a random doctor or midwife entered the space and there was distrust, anxiety and fear.

These pictures are of my most recent birth just a few weeks ago. I have known both midwives for a few years and can honestly say that I whole-heartedly trust their knowledge & expertise. They both respected my birth vision, my bodily autonomy and did everything they could to ensure my birth was nothing short of magic. 💫
