Ever wonder what this glowing machine does? It’s called a hydroxyl generator, and it plays a key role in improving air quality during restoration projects.

We use it primarily after smoke and fire damage, but it’s also effective for mold and water damage cleanup. It works by producing hydroxyl radicals, which break down smoke particles, odors, bacteria, and VOCs in the air.

Hydroxyl generators are a supplemental tool. They support the restoration process by improving air conditions but are always used alongside containment, drying equipment, and source removal.

Why we use it:
• Neutralizes tough odors from smoke, mold, or contaminated water
• Improves indoor air quality during active restoration
• Safe to use in homes while people and pets are present

Air quality is a big part of a safe cleanup, and this equipment helps us get it right.

This may look like a simple blue box 🟦, but it’s one of the most important pieces of equipment we use on the job.

It’s called an air scrubber, and it helps clean the air on restoration sites by capturing mold spores, smoke particles, dust, bacteria, and more.

Air scrubbers use different types of filters depending on the job:
• Pre-filters catch larger particles like dust and debris
• HEPA filters capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns (like mold spores and bacteria)
• Carbon filters help remove smoke odors and chemical fumes

We use air scrubbers on mold remediation, fire and smoke restoration, and during demolition to control airborne dust. Even general contractors are encouraged to use air scrubbers during demolition or construction to reduce airborne dust and protect both workers and property. Clean air isn’t just about comfort. It’s about safety.

Poll time: What do you think this scrubber was used for?
A) Mold remediation
B) Smoke damage
C) Demolition dust

Cast your vote and comment what gave it away.
