Hi evefurryone! It’s me, Haru!
I apologize for not updating you all earlier about my progress…but in between my medicated baths, I’ve been roadtripping with my NNSR peeps! My skin is clearing and my fur is growing back. I love to sun on the front deck!! Thanks to evfurryone who donated to help me!!

Today Haru got to meet Dr. Jody Hicks with Aspen Health and Wellness in Reno. Dr. Hicks has been to official Vet for Northern Nevada Shiba Rescue for almost 20 years. She eliminated any bug and confirmed that Haru has a severe allergy process culminating in a severe yeast infection. She has prescribed a medicated shampoo for twice a week trips to our groomer, Athena, with Hand to Paws I. Downtown Reno. She also prescribed Apoquel, an antibiotic and anti itching. Dr. Hicks noted once we have his infection under control, the next step will be to address his teeth, after months on the streets, you can only imagine how bad his teeth are. She approved for him to start the baths ASAP and Athena got him in today, right after he left Dr. Hicks. Haru was amazing with Dr. Hicks who jokingly questioned if he was a real shiba, but then came the bath and now he showed the true shiba attitude. He was not happy, but part of that could be the medicated shampoo. But, in the end, he was very well behaved for both and he has taken the next step towards recovery. To all of you who have do ated to his cause, Haru thanks you from the bottom of his heart, and so do I/we here at Northern Nevada Shiba Rescue. For those that would like to donate, please send to: -NNSR. Thank you all for supporting us and for following Haru on his journey to wellness and his furrever home!

Haru has settled in with us and is exploring every nook and cranny of his new home! Here he is checking out the office nook! He is quite energetic and is surely an escape artist!! His first vet visit will be Tuesday, which will bring him some relief from his itchiness as he begins his transformation!!!

This little Frenchie mix was found near Moana and So. Virginia in Reno, NV. He is not neutered and does have a microchip. If you have any information on this boy, please contact us, we would love to reunite him with his rightful owner.

Hello! My name is Kenji! I am a handsome boy from a long line of champion Shibas from a breeder in Northern California. My human parents are moving to Europe to retire, and I need to be rehomed. While my breeder is very proud of her champion Shibas, she really doesn't care about the fate of the puppies she sells. When my humans asked if she would take me back, she replied that she is retired. But that is not true. She is still showing her Shibas and breeding litters of puppies. But that is not the important thing right now...

I need a new home. I am 7 years old. I am a true Shiba, in that I am very independent and want everything on my own terms. I am not afraid to use my growl as a warning, but I have not bitten anyone. I don't like other dogs, as I've had some bad experiences at dog parks. I have a strong prey drive (just ask the lizards at my foster house!)

The ideal home for me is one that has Shiba experience, but does not have any other pets or young children. I need someone with patience, who is willing to work with me to build trust and confidence. I am housebroken, walk well on a leash (fixed and retractable) and enjoy being by myself. Please respect these wishes, as I am dealing with the trauma of losing my people and need a soft landing space. Please PM NNSR if you think you have room in your heart and home for me.
Thank you, Kenji🐾
