We are thankful our member is doing well, and hope this brings closure. We are grateful for the RTC’s steadfast improvements by adding driver barriers. A proactive approach to safety of operators and passengers will help reduce violent behavior and incidents.

Ryan Mastelotto was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison with parole eligibility in eight years.

Mastelotto, unprovoked, attacked a 78-year-old RTC driver in February 2025. Video from an RTC bus showed Mastelotto when he repeatedly hit, kicked and stomped on the driver.

“Protections have gotten better, but we can always improve our securing a safer ride for our members and the RTC’s passengers,” said Teamster Local 533's Gary Watson, which represents transit workers.

The hardworking members of Teamsters Local 533 move Nevada forward, and I am proud to have their endorsement. As Treasurer, I have stood up for the Teamsters, leading my fellow state financial officers from across the country in calling on the CEO of UPS to negotiate with the Teamsters for better wages and working conditions. As Attorney General, I will continue fighting for good paying union jobs across our state.
