The Reign of Style Hair Show and Competition, created by Aisha Ellis-Asim, brought together some of the region’s most talented barbers, hairstylists, makeup artists, and creatives for a high-energy showcase of artistry and skill. Now in its 12th year, the event continues to create a platform where both students and seasoned professionals can step on stage and show off their craft.

While covering the event for Back2Besa, Besa Gordon got to see the creativity up close, connect with vendors like Blessed and Thankful and Platinum Plush Fashions, and even meet viewers who watch the show.

This week on Back2Besa, we head inside the Black Media Matter Studio for a hands-on experience with Couture Cocktails. From crafting designer cocktails to attempting a charcuterie board, the night highlights creativity, culture, and community, plus Besa learns that filling the “negative space” on a charcuterie board is a lot harder than it looks.
