Here is part 1 an article I wrote on "Using Behavior Profiling to Identify Insider Threats". (You need to log in but its free)
"Organizations often spend significant time, effort and resources protecting their data and systems from external threats such as hackers, foreign spies, hacktivists, and cybercriminals. Internal threats, often called “insider threats”, are often ignored because they are much more challenging for an organization to address.
One valuable tool for managing risk around insider threats is “Behavior Profiling”. Behavior Profiling is about identifying potential behavior patterns, motivations, emotional states, and demographic variables of an insider who could engage in malicious activity against the organization. The goals are to accurately profile, predict and detect internal threats who may be seeking to damage the organization.
Implementing behavior profiling into an organizations threat assessment program requires both human and technological commitment. An organization’s own people are on the frontline for detecting insider threats by observing concerning behaviors, or significant changes in a coworker and other related stressors. Insider threat detection should also include using technologies such as SIEMs, monitoring tools, access control systems and machine learning to identify risky or unusual behavior."

"To protect voters and the election process in a fraught year, at least three Washington counties will have some sort of security presence at ballot drop boxes or elections offices at points during the voting period, officials said Wednesday.
In King County, plainclothes security officers will keep an eye on drop boxes, county officials said. Other measures are being taken in Snohomish and Thurston counties.
Meanwhile, experts with Washington National Guard will be working Election Day evening, monitoring for any cybersecurity threats, according to Secretary of State Kim Wyman."
Here’s how King, Snohomish and Thurston counties plan to keep voting secure in the November election King County is expecting record voter turnout, Elections Director Julie Wise said as her department sends out some 1.4 million ballots on Wednesday. She asked for voters to return their ballots early to help speed counting.

"Everyone has the opportunity to fight Russian efforts to "drive U.S. citizens to extremes before the November election. Tech firms have a responsibility to root out Russian social media content and ensure their users are who they claim to be. Political, religious, and civic leaders could bring people together and help build consensus on divisive issues—like race relations, immigration, and economic inequality—that Russia may try to exploit.
Most importantly, users could be more careful about what information they share online. Don't forward content from unknown sources. Don't post content that you have not fact-checked. Be aware that even a humorous meme may have an underlying dark goal—to make you think less of another group.
Americans are less likely to have their emotions manipulated if they are aware that manipulation is the goal. Behind the veil of extreme positions are groups of people who may well have much in common. It's important to recognize that disinformation efforts targeted at emotional beliefs could further decay the national discourse."
How You Can Fight Russia’s Plans to Troll Americans During Campaign 2020 The goal of Russian interference is to trigger emotional reactions and drive people to ideological extremes, making it nearly impossible to build a consensus. But Americans are less likely to have their emotions manipulated if they are aware that manipulation is the goal.
