To all my Gene Juarez guests.
Hello and I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to apologize for missing you in the salon for the last 12 days. I have been in the hospital being gravely ill trying to fix my ailments. On Sat Oct 16th, I checked myself into ER after two days of being home sick. I was in such excruciating pain for three days and by the time I reach ER triage, my blood lab results showing severe infection/sepsis in my gallbladder system. They immediately took me into emergency surgery to remove infected gallstones and to drain the system. With my history of heart issue, I went into cardiac arrest during the surgery but thankfully I was shocked back into life after a minute of my heart not beating. I was in the ICU up until they operated on my heart again on Tuesday to prevent another cardiac arrest in the future. I am home and working on healing my body now although I’m in good spirit, feeling thankful for the outcomes. My care team have strict order for me to be in bed rest for the next 4 weeks. I will be home working on getting better so I can be back with you in the beginning of December. Thank you for being patient and I look forward to seeing you on the other side. Until then, Addison!

Sending the most grateful gratitude to all of my clients. I am thankful for your love and support this year. It is my pleasure to have you in my chair and I consider it my privilege to have you share moments of your life with me. Your loyal patronage not only help me take care of myself and my family financially but you also helped nourish my craft of hairdressing. Your kindness, generosity and patience were the fuel that kept me going through good time and bad. Wishing you a blissful Thanksgiving with your loved one and may you surrounded by the warmest love for the season. Yours, Addison:

It has been over a week since I got the news of you passing and I was having a hard time believing it until now. I missed a lot of chances to say goodbye in my life and this was one of the more difficult ones. Roxanne Tisdale was a giant driving force pushing me to become the hairdresser I am today and I haven’t stopped working for the last 15 years just so I could be as good a presence as she was to me. Her name was to be respected by the newbies at the Advanced Training Salon before we got the chance to have her standing next to us on the classroom floor. I remember her presence was majestic, a beautiful black woman with gorgeous long dreads and each step she took adorned by the sound of her bangles she wore on her wrists. Roxanne was the person to tell me to slow down and really focus on the person in my chair. For everyday I stood behind the chair during a decade and a half, those words rung in my ear and I would take a deep breath, push my shoulders back and slowly ran my fingers through my client’s hair the same way Roxanne did. The magic that she beheld was she was a woman of very few words but if you really listened, you would know that she gave so much of her knowledge through the power of her actions. Many generations of Gene Juarez hairdressers owned a lot of their careers to her and the pain of loosing her is still deeply felt among us. She left this earth with a great legacy to her students, colleagues and friends and that legacy is going to keep on inspiring me perhaps to the end of my life as a hairdresser. You sleep now, Roxanne! If there is such a place we call Heaven, I hope you get the chance to watch Alexander McQueen’s runway from the very front row where Raquel Zimmerman graced the opening of his Atlantis show. I hope you float among the clouds where you could exchange glances at Yves Saint Laurent and I hope you become such good friends with Coco Gabriel Chanel that she gifts you with one of her original maxi double flap lambskin Chanel bag. I will see you again! RIP ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
