The City of Redmond, Oregon Council unanimously approved continuing to have microshelters as one approach to homelessness in the city. We're grateful!
When we started operating microshelters, the city gave us temporary approval. The demand surprised us, and we have a waiting list for them.
It's great to have innovative leaders who understand that our unhoused neighbors are all unique, and they need shelter that meets their unique needs.

So happy to partner with NAMI Central Oregon to make sure Cooks Crossing residents get all the support they need.
We loved visiting Cook Crossing in Redmond today to talk mental health with the seniors there.
Marianne Straumfjord, M.D. — retired psychiatrist and NAMI Central Oregon board member — led a warm, thoughtful talk on “Maintaining Your Mental Health as You Age.” Huge thanks to the residents for their hospitality — Marianne, you’re a rock star (and happy 82nd birthday tomorrow!). 🎉
Special thanks to Jessica Joseph at Mountain View Community Development for making this visit possible.
NAMI Central Oregon is proud to support senior mental health and stand with elders in our community.
