REMBRANDT LIGHTING

Rembrandt is a style for lighting portraits. It creates depth, dimension, and mood, making subjects appear more dramatic, timeless, and emotionally expressive. This lighting technique is attributed to the 17th century painter who frequently captured light and shadow on his subjects in a way that flatters facial features while adding a sense of sophistication.

In a presentation to Redlands Camera Club on Monday July 6, former club president Russ Trozera will discuss and demonstrate Rembrandt style portraiture lighting. Using a portable studio setup, Russ will angle light – natural and artificial – to create the Rembrandt effect.

This is a volunteer audience participation night. Time will allow for participants who bring their cameras to capture images, including images of themselves.

This free presentation of the Redlands Camera Club is open to the public and takes place at First Presbyterian Church in Redlands. Find parking and the entrance at 105 South Fourth Street. A social time will begin at 6:30pm with the program beginning at 7:00. The program will also be shared digitally via Zoom. SUMMER 2026 PHOTO COMPETITION

There's still time to enter your images in RCC's Summer Photo Competition. Our competitions offer a great opportunity to have your images critiqued by expert photographers who can help you refine your craft. RCC members have until June 12 to submit entries.

Images can represent one of six standard categories (Places, Animal, People, etc.) and one Category X, which this time is 'Americana'. Photographers submit themselves in one of two skill levels.
