🚒🐾 A close call on Pine Ave
This evening, your responded to a kitchen fire in the 600 block of Pine Ave. Crews arrived to find a fire that had largely been kept in check thanks to the quick actions of alert neighbors using a fire extinguisher prior to our arrival. 👏🧯
•
While the apartment sustained heavy smoke damage and required extensive ventilation by firefighters, this incident could have had a much more serious outcome. Thanks to early action and a fast 911 call, the damage and danger were significantly reduced.
•
And yes, one tiny family member made it out safely. 🐱❤️ Engineer Byers spent a little extra time making sure this kitten was cared for after being removed from the home.
•
A few important reminders from your Redlands Fire Department:
🔥 Never leave cooking unattended, most kitchen fires start when food is left on the stove or in the oven without supervision.
🧯 Keep a fire extinguisher accessible in or near your kitchen and know how to use it. A quick response in the early stages of a fire can make a major difference.
📞 Call 911 immediately and never put yourself in harm’s way trying to fight a fire that is spreading.
•
We’re grateful for neighbors looking out for one another and thankful this family avoided a far worse outcome tonight.

Fatality Fire
This Sunday at approximately 5:30 PM your responded to multiple reports of a residential structure fire in the 100 block of Wabash Avenue in the City of Redlands.
•
Fire crews arrived within minutes to find a working structure fire involving a home and an injured burn victim in the front yard being assisted by community members.
•
Through a coordinated effort, Firefighter/Paramedics immediately began Advanced Life Support measures while additional crews initiated an aggressive fire attack to quickly contain and extinguish the fire.
•
Despite the tremendous efforts of Redlands Firefighter/Paramedics and medical personnel, both on scene and during transport, the victim tragically succumbed to their injuries.
•
Our hearts are with the victim, their loved ones, and all those affected by this tragic incident. We extend our deepest condolences during this incredibly difficult time.
•
We would also like to acknowledge the neighbors who acted quickly to assist, helping move the victim to safety and providing aid prior to our arrival. While we always urge the public to never place themselves in harm’s way and to call 911 immediately during emergencies, acts of compassion and concern for one another are deeply valued and appreciated.
