It's baby season! Let's help these wonderful creatures in their endeavor to be good mamas. Keep areas secure that you don't want a new family to move into! That includes securing you dryer vent hood covers to prevent unwanted tragedies, trust me, we've seen them and it aint pretty. Take just a little time to make sure birds aren't trying to build nests in the warm air vent, making sure openings are small enough to prevent little ones from seeking the heat from your dryer.

And if you do come across a baby in need or a mama with a family, please contact a local rehabber to find out what to do. There are several good ones in the area such as Halfway Home Wildlife rehab, Nature's helping hands, Motor City possum rescue, Howell's nature center and Bird Center of Michigan. PLEASE DO NOT call "pest" control. It will be certain death for both mama and baby as it is illegal in Michigan to relocate wildlife off your property which often results in the death of an animal just looking for s safe warm place to raise her young. It is also illegal to remove a birds nest in Michigan, so prevention is key to live in harmony with our wild neighbors. So please, be proactive and secure your eaves, vents, and attics. If you happen upon a mama, call a rehabber to have her safely and humanely evicted so her babies aren't left behind to die without her.
