What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a procedure that utilizes very fine crystals to exfoliate the skin. It can be done as a single treatment or as a series of once a week treatments. It's purpose is to remove hyperpigmentation (sun spots), acne (not for cystic acne), acne scars, lines and wrinkles. It can also be used on the body for scars and stretch marks. After a treatment, the skin naturally wants to replace the lost layers of skin, so it goes into "hyper-drive" in producing collagen and elastin. Five to seven layers of skin are removed each treatment. Most have little or no redness after the treatment because the skin is made of many layers. There is no downtime.
