FAFSA Application Submission Night Thursday, January 30

6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

To All NSIHS Seniors and Parents:

On January 30, 2020, NSIHS and College Options is hosting a FAFSA Application Submission Night for all Seniors and their parents. This is an opportunity for all Seniors and their parents to complete the submission of their FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid). To be eligible for the maximum financial aid available for college, INCLUDING SHASTA COLLEGE, Seniors planning to attend college in the fall 2020 must submit their FAFSA application by no later than March 2, 2020.
College Options will be providing free advice and assistance in submitting your FAFSA application. In preparation for the January 30 workshop all attending Seniors and one parent should do the following (See attached document "Financial Aid Appointment Materials" for complete details):

1. Obtain and bring your FSA ID username and password.

*** See attached document on how to obtain your FSA ID username and password

2. Bring your Social Security card/numbers and birthdates for the students and parents.

*** Exact spelling of full name as listed on the Social Security card is necessary for FAFSA completion

3. Bring a copy of the parents' and student's 2018 Federal Income Tax Returns.

4. Bring 2018 untaxed income records for the student and parents for:

* Pre-tax contributions to qualified retirement plans

* Tax exempt interest

* Child support received

* Housing/food/living allowances

* Veterans noneducation benefits

5. Bring most recent bank statements (checking, savings, etc.) for the student and parents.

6. Bring most recent stocks, bonds, and other investment records for the student and parents.

All of the above information (if applicable) is required to be reported on the FAFSA application.
