This is a two-dimensional immunoblot of S. neurona proteins. This blot, created in 2000, was pivotal in developing rSAG1 as a diagnostic antigen in my PhD program.

Persistence of Sarcocystis neurona and histopathology in horses with equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (Helber 2026) reports 4 of 9 horses with EPM (protozoa found on histopath or PCR) confirm the protozoa were resistant to treatment. The treatment used/dose/duration was not available. Treatment-resistant organisms will be more likey on farms that chronically use anti-protozoals. TTBOMK there are no new treatments in the pipeline.
