If you missed their grand opening this week, don't fear, you have plenty of time to check out the new Reading Roots Market at the Goggleworks Center for the Arts, right next door to our Community Kitchen.

Every Thursday from now through October 8 (11am - 2pm), there will be produce and eggs for sale, cooking & art demos, free giveaways & activities, and much more!

Reading Roots Market is a community initiative focused on expanding access to fresh food, supporting downtown revitalization, and fostering community engagement in Reading.

The market is able to accept EBT and FMNP vouchers and is working with local offices and community partners to help seniors enroll in state-supported programs like the Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), which also supports local Pennsylvania growers.

Each of the first four months of 2026, we distributed over ONE MILLION pounds of food...something we have never before achieved!

So, we waited with bated breath as we approached the end of May, and the final orders were tallied, to see if we'd hit that number yet again.

While we didn't quite get to one million in May, almost 950K pounds of food distributed to neighbors facing hunger is nothing to sneeze at! And we can say with confidence that 2026 will be another unprecedented, record-breaking year for Helping Harvest.

We are so proud that we've been able to continue to serve so many Berks & Schuylkill County families as demand for food assistance has risen along with gas and grocery prices.
