Generosity is more than philanthropy – it is a legacy of faith, community, and hope for the next generation. Champions of Giving shines a spotlight on the donors of Austin Prep, celebrating the individuals and families whose contributions have strengthened the school, enriched student experiences, and ensured that the values of truth, unity, and love continue to thrive. This series shares their stories: who they are, why they were inspired to give, and how their generosity has made a lasting difference.

A sure sign of summer at Austin Prep? Campus renovation projects! Work is already underway at 101 Willow Street, including reconditioning of the wood floor in Richard J. Meelia ‘67 Hall. We can’t wait to welcome fall sport student-athletes back to campus in August for tryouts!

As faculty wrap up advisory letters to close out the 2025-2026 academic year, we would like to take a moment to celebrate and honor Ms. Celia Barletta, World Languages Faculty, who is retiring after 41 years of dedicated service to Austin Prep. Ms. Barletta began her Austin Prep journey in 1985, and has served the school as a cornerstone of the World Language Department, as Dean of Student Activities, and as Assistant Head for Academic Affairs. In 2020, she was recognized by the Board of Trustees with Austin Prep’s St. Augustine Lumen Award, which honors outstanding teaching, and was later celebrated in Journey Magazine for forty years of service in world language education and mentorship. She was at Austin Prep when the school transitioned to coeducation in 1992, and later spoke with pride about watching the first women students embody Austin Prep’s core values in action. She has been, in the words of a former student, “a beacon of inspiration and excellence in teaching.”

We thank Ms. Barletta for her many contributions to our community, and congratulate her on her extraordinary career. Austin Prep is a better place because of you and we will miss you!
