Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! 🦃🍂
I told Jack we were going on a turkey hunt, but I think he misunderstood the assignment... now he’s the cutest turkey in the cornfield! We are all dressed up and ready to feast.
While you’re waiting for the timer to pop on the bird (or for the football game to start), here are 5 fun facts about Thanksgiving to share around the table today:
* It was a marathon, not a sprint: The first Thanksgiving in 1621
actually lasted for three whole days. (Imagine the leftovers!)
* No forks allowed: The Pilgrims didn’t use forks at the first
Thanksgiving. They ate mostly with spoons, knives, and their
fingers.
* Where’s the Turkey?: Historians say turkey probably wasn’t the
centerpiece of the first harvest meal. It was likely venison (deer),
duck, goose, and lots of seafood like lobster and clams.
* Thank the leftovers for TV Dinners: In 1953, Swanson had 260 tons
of leftover turkey. To get rid of it, a salesman suggested
packaging it in aluminum trays with sides—and the TV dinner
was born! 📺
* Jingle Bells?: The song "Jingle Bells" was originally written to be
sung on Thanksgiving, not Christmas! It was composed in 1857
for a children's Thanksgiving church concert. 🔔
From our family to yours, we hope you have a wonderful day filled with gratitude, good food, and great company.

My trusty mummy companion (Jack) and I are ready for a night of frights and delights! Did you know these creepy cool facts about Halloween?
Trick-or-Treating Goes Way Back: The tradition of going door-to-door for treats originated from medieval practices where poor people would go "souling" on Hallowmas (November 1st), asking for food in exchange for prayers for the dead.
Jack-o'-Lanterns Weren't Always Pumpkins: Originally, Jack-o'-lanterns were carved from turnips or potatoes in Ireland and Scotland to ward off evil spirits. When immigrants came to America, they found pumpkins were much easier to carve!
Samhainophobia is a Real Thing: If you're genuinely scared of Halloween, you might have Samhainophobia – the fear of Halloween.
The Largest Pumpkin Ever Weighed Over 2,700 Pounds! Imagine carving that behemoth! The current world record holder for the heaviest pumpkin was grown in Italy and weighed an astonishing 2,703 pounds (1,226 kg).
Wearing Costumes Has Ancient Roots: Dressing up in costumes dates back to the Celtic festival of Samhain. People would wear disguises to confuse evil spirits who were believed to roam the Earth on that night.
What are your favorite Halloween traditions? Share them in the comments below! Stay safe and spooky!
