It’s a Girl!! 💖
Ester Lucia Madsen made her dramatic entry into the world on 11/22/23. After 6.5 days of hard labor she was born via C-section because her heart rate was dropping during contractions.
We enjoyed two days of happy healthy bliss with her before her oxygen levels dropped and had to be rushed to the NICU. From there, we were flown to Sanford in Sioux Falls where she stayed for a week of tests and observation.

She is doing well now and maintaining adequate oxygen levels and weight. She is such a good eater! We are beyond relieved and happy to finally be bringing her home today, and are extremely grateful for the love, support, and prayers that helped get her to this point 🥲🙏🏽 We are so blessed to have such a strong support system for our little family 💗💗 She is such a blessing 💝

Your lives will shift suddenly and dramatically. In fact it probably already has. As a first step toward building Love Maps for your relationship, I’d encourage you to draw one of your own about your life before your marriage/relationship. Think back through the twists and turns in your story. Write them down. Or perhaps draw an actual map. What has the journey to this point been like for you. Where were the smooth roads? Where were the steep climbs or the dry deserts? Telling, retelling, and rewriting your story can be a powerful therapeutic tool.
A trained therapist can help you with this, but so can the discipline of journaling. It almost doesn’t matter how you get there, but it’s important that you don’t expect your partner to be the answer to all the questions you’ve been asking — consciously or unconsciously — throughout your life. Indeed, the best way to ensure a healthy marital friendship is to keep asking questions.
