The election is over, and the people have spoken.

If you would honor me with a few minutes of your time, I’d appreciate you watching or listening to this short video message. It’s not really about an election. It’s about service, perseverance, citizenship, and what comes next.

If you’re driving home from work, relaxing this evening, or spending time with your family, I hope you’ll take a few moments to listen. If you have children or grandchildren, this may even be a good opportunity to talk with them about civic participation, public service, and the importance of being engaged in our communities and our Republic.

I am truly humbled by this community and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving as your La Quinta City Councilman.
Thank you for your support.

As always, I welcome your thoughts, comments, and feedback, and if the message resonates with you, please feel free to share it with others.

The election is over.
The mission continues.

Steve Sanchez Calls for Independent Forensic Audits 06/10/2026

I appreciate Uken Report for covering this important discussion.

Many people don’t realize that LAFCO is an independent agency separate from Riverside County government. While LAFCO is best known for annexations and boundary changes, state law also gives us responsibility for evaluating the governance, accountability, and financial sustainability of cities and special districts throughout Riverside County.

One thing I’ve learned is that LAFCO has authority to conduct independent forensic audits when warranted. The challenge isn’t authority, it’s that we’ve never established a dedicated budget line item to utilize that authority.

To be clear, I’m not interested in rumors, politics, or hearsay. I’m interested in facts. When credible concerns are raised by current or former employees, elected officials, or members of the public, those concerns should be examined through independent professional review. A forensic audit either uncovers problems or clears an agency’s name. Either way, taxpayers win.

I also want to thank those who have had the courage to come forward and raise concerns. Accountability begins when people are willing to speak up.

One final thought: when a reasonable forensic audit is proposed, pay close attention to who supports it and who opposes it. Sometimes, that tells you a lot.

Please take a moment to read the article, share it, and join the conversation.
