The NCHSAA named Reidsville's Dionte Neal and Cherokee's Dvdaya Swimmer as the Pat Best male and female athletes of the year for 2025-26.

Swimmer was a four-sport start in cross country, volleyball, basketball, and track and field. She won individual titles and helped Cherokee capture three straight basketball championships and totaled 1,787 career points. Swimmer made three HighSchoolOT all-state teams in basketball. She will continue her academic and athletic career at the University of Hawaii.

Neal helped Reidsville win two state championships in both football and basketball while earning football championship MVP and basketball state championship MOP honors. He is the state's all-time leader in assists and top-10 nationally. He also played baseball and track and field. Neal made four HighSchoolOT all-state teams in football and four in basketball. Neal will continue his basketball career at UNC-Greensboro
