Join the LGBT Center of Raleigh and partners for a Q&A with Sally Rubin filmmaker of Mama has a Mustache, a short, quirky, fully animated documentary about gender and family, as seen through children’s eyes. Driven completely by audio interviews of kids ages 5-10, the film uses these sound bites combined with clipart and mixed media to explore how children experience a world outside of the traditional gender binary.
Live Q&A is Thursday, March 3 at 8pm ET. The film will be screened at the beginning of the event and you can also access the film anytime between Mar. 1 and Mar. 9. This event is open to the public; youth, parents, other adults, and supporters are welcome.

Such a fun, fascinating event with V.E. Schwab and Naomi Novik tonight! Thank so much to Quail Ridge Books for organizing and hosting - we were so glad to be part of it!
As a follow-up, I want to share again this essay about the long, painful, liberating process of coming out:
"You didn’t need walls—you needed space. Out here, there are no rooms, no roof. There are no walls, no doors, just open ground, a sprawling night filled with radiant riotous blooms....There are people out here in the garden, and they welcome you without asking where you’ve been, and you say you’re sorry you’re late, you got lost, and they fold you into their arms and says it is okay, you are here now."
How Author V.E. Schwab Finally Found the Words to Come Out of the Closet For the writer, it was more like coming out of a house.
