Congratulations to Inmagela “Inma” Abreu (they/them), a trans non-binary birder, activist, artist, and first-generation Caribbean scholar. They are a Master’s student in Anthropology and a 2024 Fulbright scholar in Museum and Exhibition Studies. Inma is active in multiple grassroots and conservation efforts, including Chicago BIPOC Birders, Chicago Bird Collision Monitor, Urban Rivers, and the Rainbow Flock (AOS). They will be using the award to travel and participate in the 2026 Banding Bootcamp at Braddock Bay Bird Observatory, a key step in building hands-on avian research skills.

Our reflection and affirmation station at Triangle Land Conservancy’s Wild Ideas event this past Saturday allowed participants to feel a sense of belonging in nature, and created space for reflection, creativity, and conversation.
