One of the newest members of Pint Size Pastures made a dramatic entrance today! 🐣

This little chick became "shrink wrapped," which happens when the membrane inside the egg dries out and tightens around the chick, making it difficult, and often impossible, for them to hatch on their own.

Normally, I let nature do its thing. I breed for rigor and let survival of the fittest do its thing. But this one was my fault for opening the incubator and dropping the humidity midhatch, so this baby deserved a fighting chance.

It's one of those reminders that when you farm, you're never really off the clock. Early mornings, late nights, and unexpected emergencies don't check your schedule first. Sometimes being a good steward means knowing when to watch, and sometimes it means knowing when to help.

And the thing is, its been in the 90s all week! These birds always keep me on my toes..

June is National Dairy Month. It's a time to remember there's a real person (and a real animal) behind every drop.

We welcomed a new little buckling to our farm last night!

He will be with mom for the rest of the day, and then pulled so we can start our milking journey!
