I know Friendsgivings and break rooms full of holiday goodies are already in full swing so I thought it best to start this series where it all begins…in the mind.
There’s more we could talk about when it comes to mentally preparing but I wanted to start y’all off with some of the top facets of mentally winning when it comes to nutrition for the holidays.
I think it’s super important to recognize everyone is at a different place in their health journey & I tried to give different examples to those various journey markers.
One of the biggest things I hope you see through all these points is there is ZERO SHAME attached to how we ought to think about food or talk to ourselves about food or about what we eat & how it affects what our body looks like.
For some, giving yourself a mental break for the day and simply enjoying the food without a care about calories is what you need.
For another, you know if you eat one slice of pumpkin pie it’ll turn into three & therefore decide to stay away completely.
And for another, you are excited to eat all the yummy dishes with healthy portion control in mind.
Take the facets that apply to you and leave the ones that don’t.
Again the overall goal is to have a healthy, positive relationship with food. -that’s going to look different person to person.
If you’re struggling to know what that looks like for you, I’d be happy to chat and be apart of your team to help you win nutritionally for the holidays!

Here’s some info on dietary fats:
1. 1 gram of fat = 9 calories (whereas 1 gram of protein or carbs = 4 calories).
1a.Which means fats are more calorically dense & therefore take longer to digest versus carbs and proteins
2. Your daily dietary fat intake should be around 20-35% of your total daily calories.
2a. It’s super easy to hit your daily dietary fat intake so we didn’t want to take away a lot of your daily fat grams with these guilt-free treats.
3. Dietary fats are needed! Don’t cut out fats!
Vitamins D, K, A, & E are absorbed through the dietary fats you consume.
Dietary fats also support cell functions, keep your body warm, & help produce important hormones.
Any of these facts surprise you?
Don’t get us wrong we LOVE healthy dietary fats but when it comes to our baked goods we focus on keeping the fat content low. Save your fat for some yummy avocado toast, string cheese or a pot roast!
