The air conditioning in your car requires the proper refrigerant amount in order to function correctly. Loss of refrigerant means there is a leak.

It can be tempting to grab one the self service cans that can be found in many places and that will often get the air conditioning to work for a while. However the issue is when an A/C system runs low the lubricating oil doesn't circulate and compressor damage happens. Repeatedly recharging the system with refrigerant means going from a leak fix to a compressor replacement which greatly increases the repair costs.

This year DJ Auto sponsored the engine performance station during the state level Automotive Skills USA competition held at Salt Lake Community College. During the competition high school and college students have challenges that cover the major areas of auto repair. At each station they have to properly test for and document issues that they are presented with. Top students move on to national competitions, win tool prizes and scholoarships.
