Border & Square

A diptych by we were blessed to frame and hang. We wanted to unify the two parts with frame dimensions that were thinner towards the center, a technique we saw at a museum display some years back.
Finished with 22kt gold that shows some beautiful flecking, and Museum Optium acrylic that is light, non-reflective, UV protective, AND anti-shatter.

A very special project! A client brought in this beloved self-portrait by his wife. We didn’t have anything that fit his description of her perfectly, so we made a new frame design just for her!
We carved this thin mahogany frame, and softened the whole look with a warm ivory linen liner and mat. We put it behind an anti-reflective, UV, shatterproof plexiglass to protect it for decades to come.

This Wayne Kimball collaborative piece is housed in a unique frame of solid ebony. Ebony is extremely dense, oily, and quite brittle, making it difficult on tools and challenging to glue. The client had a vision of using the wood for this particular piece, and so we bravely forged ahead!
We designed it to complement the sculptural elements in the image, giving it a clean, classical design. After polishing to 2000 grit, it gives off a lustrous, satin shine. Client loved how it turned out, and so do we!
