This week, we hosted two great community meetings at Club Juan Pablo Duarte and The Mediator Stage. I am always grateful for the opportunity to hear directly from our neighbors about the issues facing our communities so we can better serve our residents. Thank you to Emelda Benitez for the kind introduction, and thank you to Senator Ana Quezada, Representative Grace Diaz, Representative Scott Slater and Councilman James Taylor for joining us for these insightful conversations!

In a moment where the federal administration continues to rollback climate protections, local governments need to step up to protect our neighborhoods from the impacts of climate change and protect our residents from the volatile costs of fossil fuels. That's why I'm excited to propose a new Green Revolving Fund that will enable our city to build more sustainable infrastructure and lower long-term energy costs.
If approved, this fund will be launched with an initial $3 million investment to fund energy efficiency projects, renewable energy projects, and electrification projects around Providence. The incentives and tax credits from these programs will then be reinvested into the revolving fund to support the next round of investments, creating a permanent funding stream for these important projects.
Smiley proposes new ‘Green Revolving Fund’ for Providence Mayor Brett Smiley announced a first of its kind fund in Providence that would ensure the city has money for energy efficiency investments and improvements.
