The Tech Collective is collaborating and supporting CS4RI to help them continue their efforts in the Virtual Industry Mentorship Program. Computer Science for Rhode Island was developed as part of a competitive research grant from the US Department of Education to create a national model for Computer Science Work-Based Learning and to study the impact of work-based learning on students’ AP computer science scores. Each mentor will be paired with a group of students (about 5-6 per group) working on one project with a total time commitment, including training, of roughly 20 hours all done virtually (2-3 hours a month from January-June 2022). This past Friday, the Tech Collective joined E-Cubed Academy in announcing the Computer Science Career Pathway programs for this upcoming school year. The three new pathways that the students voted for are: networking (cyber security and cloud computing), computer support, and computer science (programming and web development). These initiatives will allow students to develop skills that will prepare them for the workforce after graduation. As the tech community continues to grow in RI, these students will fill the pipeline with qualified workers. With great speeches from the Principle Dr. Judah, Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos, Superintendent Javier Montanez and students - it is clear that the community is highly invested in the success in this program.
