On this day, 26 November 1922, a small group of Egyptian workmen, accompanied by Arthur Callender, Lord Carnarvon and his daughter Lady Evelyn, watched as Howard Carter carefully made a hole in the upper left corner of a sealed inner doorway in Tutankhamun's tomb. Carnarvon asked, "Can you see anything?" Carter replied: "Yes, wonderful things!
