United Airlines has reported $13.2 billion in first-quarter revenue — its strongest Q1 showing to date. The airline carried over 40 million passengers and ended the period with a net profit of $387 million.
Despite that, United is pulling back. Domestic capacity will be cut 4% in Q3. CEO Scott Kirby says the strategy is about “resiliency,” as the carrier braces for economic uncertainty.
United added 76 aircraft year-on-year, but is retiring 21 older jets early to avoid costly overhauls. Capital spending for 2025 is now expected to stay below $6.5 billion.
