The 35 millimeter roll of film was first used for moving pictures, coming in a giant spool that was threaded through the video camera to record movement. Soon after it was used in movies, the 35 millimeter film was made for cameras.
You can check your lenses for fungus by dismounting them and looking through them at a bright light source. Some dust specks are normal, but water spots, haziness, or actual fungal growth are a sure sign of trouble!
A camera is, by definition, a lightproof lensed device that takes light into itself and then directs it toward the film, so the image is captured on the film using light. With digital cameras, the light is directed toward the image capturing device, instead of the film.
In most cases, repairing a broken camera is less expensive than buying a new camera. This is especially true if you've purchased your camera within the past few years.
