Thinc Design with LMN Architects, just completed the beautiful Ocean Pavilion at Seattle Aquarium. The project has been featured in today's Architecture Preview in The New York Times. The project is Seattle's "jewel in the crown" connecting Pikes Place Market to a beautiful new waterfront. Congratulations to Tom Hennes and the team at Thinc, one of my long-time clients.
Architects Are Coaxing Downtowns Back to Life Gone are the days when designers made a splash with a shimmering new building torquing this way and that. The season’s debuts forge links to regional designs and new connections.

Beautiful Providence, RI
AIA announces 2023 Regional & Urban Design Awards winners
and so well deserved. The Van Leesten Memorial Bridge has transformed downtown Providence, creating a wonderful loop around the river, bridges, memorials, and beautiful landscaping. Its namesake was one of Rhode Island's most esteemed leaders in the Black community and across all communities. He was a true bridge-builder, a deep thinker, a job creator, kind and gentle man. Above all, he was a great friend and neighbor. This bridge keeps his memory alive.

Project excerpt: "Much more than a pedestrian connector, the bridge itself is a destination, offering multiple programming modes that spur new connections and social interactions among the city’s residents. A highly visual symbol of Providence’s renewal, the bridge embraces its responsibility of linking the Waterfront Park’s east and west by forming a public environment that harmonizes urban and ecological spaces."

Twelve years ago this coming March, Tom Hennes and his immensely creative team at Thinc Design, opened the spectacular exhibition, "Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts," at The Park Avenue Armory. Lizzie Crocker, then writing for The Daily Beast:, gave the show one of its many rave reviews. Built in two day and on display for just six days, the show spiraled up and down and over, and attracted an international audience of many thousands. I was and still am thrilled to work with these extraordinary and talented designers.
Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts: Photos Often snubbed in the art world, red-and-white patchworks are finally getting a huge display at the Armory—but is dangling them in midair treating them like high art?
