En Yerma se puede apreciar la denuncia de como la mujer estaba confinada al hogar, sometida al “que dirán” la honra y el matrimonio sin amor, donde el hombre a menudo prioriza el patrimonio sobre la vida emocional y la descendencia.

Yerma se presenta bajo la dirección de Marcel Mascaró, quien incursiona por primera vez en Teatro ECAS.

Marcel is a nonbinary, Cuban American theater maker and teaching artist based in Providence, RI. They lead workshops at Teatro ECAS through the Fellowship of Actors and are a resident artist with the Wilbury Theatre Group and Rhode Island Latino Arts. Performance credits include La Tempestad, Tiny Beautiful Things, and Fuente Ovejuna. Directing includes Wolf Play and We’re Gonna Die. Marcel holds a BFA from SUNY Purchase and an MFA from Brown/Trinity Rep.
