Somewhere in the United States, there is a woman who has just discovered that she is expecting a child. This is news that nearly 3.8 million American women hear per year.
------------------------------------------
However for her, as an African American woman, this may be a death sentence. This is the grim reality for far too many women in the United States especially Black and Latina women.
------------------------------------------
At BIF, we don’t believe that this is just a healthcare issue but it is a social, racial, and economic issue. An issue that has to be faced, and we are facing it through LunaYou.

It's a beautiful morning here at the BIF office! How will you make a difference today?
“My name is Courtney Lester and I serve as the Wellbeing Coach for LunaYou.
I'm not just passionate about LunaYou because of the outcome wellbeing can have on maternal health but I AM LunaYou.
I am a black mother with a complicated birth story, that did not have the tools to advocate for herself while giving birth. Like most moms, my wellbeing was put on the backburner making me susceptible to physical and emotional postpartum complications.
As a Wellbeing Coach, I facilitate all the components of LunaYou and serve in a supportive role to each woman in the program.
This has given me the pleasure to talk to women and hear their stories, fears, and barriers they face in their pregnancies and it allows me to help them find their personal power.
It's a miracle program with very realistic components to help real women.”

It was safer to give birth in America thirty years ago than today. How does this happen when research suggests that over 60% of poor maternal health outcomes are preventable?
We designed LunaYou to solve this growing crisis with a woman-centered wellbeing solution but we need your help to make it available to more women.
