On this day in 1983, Houston Astros Pitcher Nolan Ryan recorded his 3509th strikeout en route to become the new career strikeout leader over Walter Johnson. Ryan recorded over 2000 more to finish his career with 5714, which is still the MLB career record! ⚾️
