Senate Republican leader Jessica de la Cruz objected to the speed of the budget and the scale of spending, $900 million more than the budget lawmakers passed last summer.

Republicans offered 10 amendments targeting, among other things, the millionaires tax and truck tolls. None came close to passing.

"The budget is the one item that keeps everyone in both chambers at the table, so this vote is premature," de la Cruz said. "We are being asked to rubber-stamp a $900 million increase over last year's budget. ... That's an aggressive 6% spending spike in one fiscal year."
