When it’s really, really hot outside – and especially when it’s very humid, like it is right now in the eastern part of the U. S. – we are more at risk for heat-related illness.
According to NOAA and the CDC, extreme heat is the leading cause of weather-related deaths in the United States. It is particularly dangerous for the very old and very young, but even the healthiest among us can become ill in such extreme heat.
