This year has been nothing short of spectacular as we teamed up with the brilliant Professor Kiss and her talented students from the Research Film Studio to craft an exhilarating film titled “HairArchitecture” for submission to the prestigious Biennial in Venice, Italy, and Mallorca, Spain! This stunning work is a heartfelt homage to the legendary Julie Dash’s “Daughters of the Dust” and Beyoncé’s iconic “Lemonade.”
 
But wait, there’s more! This amazing project earned an Honorable Mention with the esteemed ADEMA Residency and Acquisition Award in Spain! A huge shoutout to Professor Kiss , every phenomenal Princeton student (both current and former) who poured their passion and commitment into this endeavor, and to our fabulous celebrity braiders and hairstylists, Natalie Tapia and Jennifer Diaz .artistry! We have been fortunate to encounter remarkable opportunities, understanding that it’s not only talent that opens doors, but it’s also compassionate individuals surrounding us. We are aware that our path has been illuminated by those who looked beyond divisive fear and hate, granting us the chance to work in spaces and places that many only dream of. Over the years, we have strived against the backdrop of microaggressions, unconscious bias, subtle stereotypes, and systematic practices that perpetuate racial inequalities. Navigating the world as “black professionals, black business owners, black students” hasn’t been without its challenges. After almost 24 years in the beauty industry and 17 years in , we feel it is essential to express our gratitude to those who have supported, mentored, and believed in us throughout our journey.
