On this anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, we honor the courage of those who stood up, spoke out, and sparked a movement that continues to shape the fight for LGBTQ+ rights today. ✊🏳️🌈
Their bravery reminds us that progress is possible when communities come together to demand dignity, safety, and equality for all. 📣💥
At YWCA Princeton, we carry this legacy forward by advocating for equity, uplifting marginalized voices, and fostering spaces where everyone is empowered to live openly and authentically.
We honor the past, stand strong in the present, and continue the work toward a more inclusive future. 🧡

Honoring freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice this Juneteenth. ❤️🖤💚
At YWCA Princeton, we recognize June 19, 1865 as a pivotal moment in history—when the last enslaved Black Americans in Texas were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Today, we celebrate Black history, culture, and achievements while also reflecting on the work that still lies ahead. Our commitment to eliminating racism and empowering women drives us to continue advocating for equity, justice, and opportunity for all.
Let’s honor the past, uplift the present, and work together toward a more just future. ✊

As we continue to celebrate Pride Month we stop to reflect on Pauli Murray, whose legacy spans both the civil rights and gender equality movements. 💪🧡
A legal scholar, activist, and the first Black woman ordained as an Episcopal priest, Murray challenged what they called “Jane Crow,” exposing the intersections of racial and gender discrimination. Their legal ideas helped lay the groundwork for landmark cases like Brown v. Board of Education and influenced future generations of legal advocates. ✍️👏
At YWCA Princeton, we continue this work by affirming the importance of visibility, inclusion, and advocating for more just systems for all. 🏳️🌈✨

In honor of Pride Month, this week, we are highlighting Audre Lorde, a writer and activist whose work explored identity, power, and the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and health. 🏳️🌈✍️
Born in New York City to immigrant parents from Grenada, Lorde became a leading voice in civil rights, feminism, and LGBTQ+ liberation. 📣 After her breast cancer diagnosis, she wrote openly about the illness, challenging silence around health and lived experience.
At YWCA Princeton, we support creating space for honest dialogue and shared experience, especially around identity, health, and belonging. Lorde’s legacy reminds us of the importance of speaking openly and making space for every lived experience. 🧡👏
