If you don't have a virtual reality headset, you can rehearse doing something you'd like to accomplish in hypnosis!

In a recent Stanford University study , nine adults with diagnosed hoarding disorders were asked to create 3D VR versions of their most cluttered rooms.
With the guidance of a clinician, the patients — all of whom were over age 55 — then spent weeks navigating the space, handling virtual versions of their belongings, and throwing them away.
Carolyn Rodriguez, a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and senior author of the study, said the virtual experience can serve as “a kind of stepping stone,” or a less intense version of real-life discarding.
“It's nice to be able to [practice] in a virtual space for people who experience considerable distress even attempting to part with possessions,” she said.
The first-of-its-kind study took place over 16 weeks. In the first six weeks, each patient attended an online support group to gain the skills needed to tackle their hoarding through cognitive behavioral therapy.
In weeks seven through 14, they practiced decluttering in their virtual room.
By the end of the study, the majority of participants were able to part with the items in real life, too.

FRIDAY QUEST:
Ask yourself, "What am I grateful for this week?"
SHARE BELOW!
I'll start:
What am I grateful for?
Human creativity and access to information!
Let's keep asking the question today and see what other good news or simple noticings we can share.
Also grateful for the lovely humans who whisked my mom through two large airports yesterday, making a long day so much easier and pleasant.
You?
When clocks strike midnight on the first day each year, a quiet creative revolution starts as hundreds of works move from private control into the public domain, unlocking stories, songs, and images for anyone to reuse.
Since 2004, the world has celebrated this big moment with an official Public Domain Day.
Because copyright rules vary across countries, the list of new additions depends on where you live – such as the painting illustrating this post, Piet Mondrian's "Composition with Red Blue and Yellow", which has been in the public domain in some regions since 2015, but is only now entering the public domain in the US.
But the basic idea is the same: after a set period – often the author’s life plus 70 years – creativity returns to the commons.
In 2026, other highlights include hard‑boiled detective novels, Faulkner’s "As I Lay Dying", plays like Noël Coward’s "Private Lives", films such as "All Quiet on the Western Front", and songs like "Dream a Little Dream of Me".
Public Domain Day invites us to talk about why we have copyright and how long it should last. As authors’ monopolies end, teachers can photocopy stories without paying fees, filmmakers can use clips freely, and musicians can sample melodies without lawyers calling. That fresh freedom sparks remix culture and keeps old works alive in new hands.
So if you have ever wanted to stage a classic play, remix a vintage recording, or illustrate a story with modernist art, now might be your chance.

Hypnotists often work with phobias. They can be dreadful, no matter how inexplicable or weird the specific triggers are - but sometimes it is actually very helpful to see how irrational fears are. We sometimes use the Harry Potter spell: Riddikulus.
So I hope you find this sketch as therapeutic as I did!
The Sketch Show UK - Phobias Workshop This is the UK version (2001-2003).All five actors are in a phobias workshop, phobias include a fear of the word "Aagh!", a fear of apologies, a fear of repe...

A former student in my Hypnobabies class a few years ago recently published an excellent article on hypnosis for childbirth.
One of my favorite things about the class was helping parents learn to advocate for themselves. I love doctors and science -- and it was something of a shock to realize that a lot of our hospital standard practices around childbirth are not necessarily based on evidence. Hypnobabies was as much about keeping calm as keeping comfortable -- a cycle of wellness!
