Benefits of Exercising During Pregnancy 🤰💪✨

Pregnancy is not an illness—it’s a time when your body is doing one of the most incredible jobs imaginable. For most healthy pregnancies, staying active can provide tremendous benefits for both mom and baby.

Regular exercise during pregnancy may help:
✨ Increase energy levels
✨ Improve mood and reduce stress
✨ Support healthy weight gain
✨ Reduce back, hip, and pelvic discomfort
✨ Improve sleep quality
✨ Promote better circulation
✨ Prepare your body for labor and birth
✨ Support a smoother postpartum recovery

The goal isn’t to train harder—it’s to move smarter.

Walking, swimming, prenatal yoga, strength training, and other pregnancy-safe exercises can help maintain strength, endurance, and mobility as your body changes.

Remember, labor is a physical event. Building strength and stamina during pregnancy can help you feel more confident and capable when the big day arrives.

Always listen to your body, stay hydrated, and discuss any exercise concerns with your healthcare provider.

A strong pregnancy doesn’t mean doing the most—it means supporting your body in a way that helps you feel your best. 💛

The Way You Sit Actually Matters! 🤰✨

As your baby grows, your posture can have a bigger impact than you might think.

Many of us naturally want to lean back into the couch, tuck our pelvis under, and recline when we’re tired. While it may feel comfortable in the moment, spending long periods in this position can encourage baby into a less-than-ideal position and may contribute to increased back discomfort.

Instead, try:
✨ Sitting on your sit bones rather than your tailbone
✨ Keeping your knees lower than your hips when possible
✨ Leaning slightly forward instead of reclining backward
✨ Using a birth ball to encourage good posture
✨ Practicing supported squats if your provider says it’s safe for you

Squatting can help open the pelvis, encourage flexibility, and support optimal fetal positioning when incorporated appropriately into your daily routine.

Small changes in how you sit, stand, and move throughout pregnancy can make a big difference in your comfort and may help create more space for baby to find an ideal position for birth.

Good posture isn’t about being perfect—it’s about giving your body and baby the best opportunity to work together. 💛

Should I See a Lactation Specialist During Pregnancy? 🤱✨

Many parents don’t realize that breastfeeding support can begin before baby arrives.

Meeting with a lactation specialist during pregnancy can help you feel more prepared, confident, and informed about your feeding goals. Whether you’re a first-time parent or have breastfed before, prenatal lactation support can answer questions and help you create a plan that works for your family.

A lactation consultation during pregnancy may help you:
✨ Learn what to expect in the first days after birth
✨ Understand normal newborn feeding behaviors
✨ Discuss pumping, milk supply, and returning to work
✨ Address previous breastfeeding challenges
✨ Identify potential concerns before baby arrives
✨ Build confidence before your breastfeeding journey begins

If you’re in the Prescott area, we highly recommend Lilli with Moody Lactation Solutions. She provides compassionate, evidence-based support and helps families navigate breastfeeding with confidence and encouragement.

Breastfeeding is a learned skill for both mom and baby. Having support in place before birth can make a world of difference when those first feeding sessions begin. 💛
