Just because school is winding down doesn't mean the learning is stopping! Ms. Emerson's students benefited from a guest speaker this week, Chera Howard. Chera was a former student of the ACTC (Cosmetology program) from Autaugaville High School.
Ms. Howard is a visionary innovator and entrepreneur who transforms cutting-edge science into scalable, nature-based solutions for the world's most pressing environmental challenges. As Founder and CEO of Forsee, LLC, she leads breakthrough work
in fire resistant materials, water conservation, and fertilizer recycling, bridging the gap between ecological stewardship and commercial impact.
Chera's research partnerships include Auburn University's Turfgrass Research Unit, where she co-leads a landmark water management initiative, and the Soil Health Institute's US Regenerative Cotton Fund. She holds a Master's in Environmental Science from Auburn University and brings over two decades of proven expertise in project management, strategic planning, and SBIR grant development.
Chera serves as a mentor to students from Ms. Emerson's program. She gives back and invests in our students. Thank you for coming to speak!

Congratulations to our freshman Fire Science student Leslie Lemons for her outstanding achievements this year. She was awarded the SkillsUSA Gold Medal for District competition and then received the Silver Medal at the State competition for First Aid CPR. She also received the rank of Fire EMS sergeant in her first year in the program! Her dedication to leadership, community service, and the development of the program is remarkable. We are so proud of her!
The best night of the school year, the ACTC Awards Night was held this week to honor Career Tech students and their accomplishments. Each year, teachers at the ACTC choose their Student of the Year and honor them with a certificate. Also, we honor the Alice Ruth Blackburn scholarship recipients. Enjoy our video!
Students in IT Networking and Business Management classes worked hard to earn their Fiber Optics certification and honor cord this past week. Students completed training modules online and then 2 days of hands on training through CACC!
